The Bakflip gives you the security of a hard tonneau cover with the functionality of a folding tonneau cover. The great thing about the Bakflip is you don’t have to sacrifice full bed access like most hard tonneau covers.
Bak actually offers the BakFlip in four different flavors. The BakFlip G2, BakFlip HD, and BakFlip F1 are all very similar. The primary difference being the thickness and material that make up the panels of the tonneau cover. Then there is the BakFlip CS which is the BakFlip HD mated with the BakRak rack system.

The BakFlip G2 is the entry level Bak cover. The panels are made of expanded polystyrene sandwiched between two sheets of aircraft grade aluminum totalling 1/2 inch in thickness. It will hold up to 300 lbs evenly distributed across the top.
The BakFlip HD is the intermediate tonneau cover available from Bak. It has the same solid construction and durable hinges as the G2 but with thicker paneling. The panels are 5/8" in thickness that bring the weight capacity up to 400lbs evenly distributed across the top.
The BakFlip F1 is Bak's top of the line tonneau cover. The panels on this cover are made of a completely different material. They are made of Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer. Although the total panel thickness is less than that of the HD, the FRP panels have the highest payload capacity of 500 lbs.
If flipping is not your thing, Bak also makes the RollBak G2. The RollBak G2 is considered a rolling or retractable tonneau cover the retracts into a canister installed in the front of the truck bed. This cover is perfect if you want a retractable cover with BAK’s clear attention to quality.
